The All-Ukrainian Credit Union Association was established with the purpose to coordinate member credit unions, ensure their cooperativeness, and protect their common interests. The association abides by the principles of mutual help, legitimacy, publicity and voluntary membership. AUCUA unties credit unions that meet a set of well-defined requirements, such as compliance with law, respect to international cooperative principles, financial stability. AUCUA strives, first of all, to ensure that member credit unions are safe for their members. AUCUA members are credit unions that adhere to cooperative principles and prize their members’ interests above all. AUCUA’s mission is to ensure sustainable development and enabling conditions for Ukrainian credit unions by way of combining the capacities of local level associations of credit unions and participating in building the credit cooperative system in Ukraine. AUCUA system. The All-Ukrainian Credit Union Association is a system structure. The AUCUA system has vertical and horizontal dimensions. Vertically, the system of the AUCUA implements the three-tier system, whose principles are envisioned in the Concept of Credit Cooperation System Development. Twenty four regional (local-level) credit union associations with a total membership of 330 credit unions comprise this system. Out of this number, 164 credit unions are direct AUCUA members (i.e. they are members of AUCUA directly rather than through regional associations). So, in terms of the vertical structure, there are two types of members in the AUCUA system: direct members of AUCUA, and indirect members (though membership in regional associations of credit unions). AUCUA is an apex institution (association of associations). As such it has a membership of 24 local (subnational, or local level) associations of credit unions with a total membership of 330. In terms of the vertical structure, there are two types of members in AUCUA: - direct membership in AUCUA, and
- indirect membership (though membership in local associations of credit unions).
AUCUA’s direct membership increased more than 5 times over the last 5 years, i.e. since AUCUA has become an association for regional associations.

As of October, 1, 2008, direct members of AUCUA have a membership of 1 million, i.e. 40% of the total credit union membership in Ukraine. Members of the AUCUA system have a total membership of 1,3 million, i.e. about 50% of the total credit union membership.
Direct AUCUA members have $ 464 million in assets. This is 40% of the total assets of Ukraine’s credit unions. Assets of the AUCUA System total $649 million, or about 52% of total assets.
Horizontally, the AUCUA system is based on cooperation of three organizations, including the All-Ukrainian Credit Union Association itself as an independent legal entity, the Union of Credit Unions Deposit Protection Program; and a set of Training/Consulting Centers established by the training cooperative Prof-Consult and the International Charity Organization “CURE”.
Cooperation Agreement with the Union of Credit Unions Deposit Protection Program, the Training Cooperative Prof-Consult and International Charity Organization “CURE” with the view to establish the unified system for representation, advocacy, stabilization, and service support of credit unions affiliated with the AUCUA and oblast-level credit union associations
